So me and my dad struck up a conversation the other day about crabs. He’s planning a vacation to Andaman & Nicobar, famed for its Coconut Crabs. The Coconut Crab is one hell of a crustacean – intelligent, large and downright creepy. He supposedly pilfers coconuts, as well as silverware and other utensils… weird.
I started looking for the world’s largest crab, (Coco crab is the largest terrestrial crab) and found The Japanese Spider Crab of Utter Doom! The crab is a lean, mean machine. Its got looks that put Half-Life 2’s striders to shame, claws that look sharper than Uma Thurman’s katana and a leg span longer than my ceiling height. <_<
Personally, I think it makes great inspiration for a video game mech or a RPG monster, but that’s just me.

Hi
Such crabs of the Andamans as are known as robber crabs are really ferocious to look at. But they are not known for all these mischiefs like filching things.
Incidentally, I’ve written a Short story book, wholly devoted to Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mr RUSKIN BOND has written foreword for it. I’ve already used such idea in one of my short stories.
Please visit my site http://remixoforchid.blogspot.com to know more about my effort and comment on it.
Oh yes, I’ve experience of staying at Port Blair for almost three years between 1995-1998 and I can really say this from my experience.
Thanks.
Sincerely
Nanda

Thanks for the comment!
I got the info about the pilfering part from Wikipedia, so I doubt if it was credible anyways.
I like your blog, Nanda. I’ll check your story out. My dad might be interested in it. The fact that Bond has written a foreword to it, is like icing on the cake.
